James Arrie Garland

James "Jim" Arrie Garland, 72, of Decatur passed away on July 9, 2019 at his home. The Lord received a Godly man who loved his family and friends, loved his country and served it proudly and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He was a Vietnam Veteran in the U S Army. He loved riding his motorcycle and loved his grandchildren and great-grand children. He was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church. He lived in this area for 22 years.

He is preceded in death by his father Arrie Garland and mother Clara Mae Garland; daughter Lisa Renee Garland: grandson Drake Garland; grandfather Wash Setterfield.

He is survived by his wife Millie " Pinky " Garland, of Decatur; sons Daniel Garland and wife Tina , of Chattsworth, Ga., Chris Morrow and wife LaDona, of Decatur, Dale Gladson and wife Jennifer, of Chattanooga; daughters Sharon Garland Powell, of La Vergne, TN, Karrie Mcleod and husband Chris, of Simpsonville, S.C. ; sisters Gloria Jean Rakstis, Susan Owenby, both of Cleveland and Michell Botts; 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grand children.

The family will receive friends at Bowers Funeral Home on Friday July 12, 2019 from 3-6 pm. Funeral services will follow in the chapel of Bowers funeral Home at 6 PM Friday with Pastor Bill Pearman officiating. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Church cemetery Friday after the service with military honors.
