James Joseph Cassone

James Cassone "Chopper", 57, of Decatur passed away at his residence on December 18, 2017 following an extended illness. He was born in Arlington Heights, IL to Armand and Marie Cassone. Chopper worked his skills with heavy equipment all over the country for the majority of his life and worked eighteen years at the Haren Construction Company of Etowah.

He was preceded in death by hs parents Armand and Marie Cassone.

Survivors include his wife Beverly (BJ) of Decatur; six children, Kacie Wallace, Justin Cassone, Matia Schoppler, and Shana Bara all of North Carolina, and Summer Pearce and Samantha Bara both of Pennsylvania. He was blessed with seven grandchildren, Peyton Wallace, Jaxson and Adalyn Schoppler, Sebastian Ashley, Savana Watkins, and Aiden and Irelyn Pearce. He is also survived by two brothers, Armand Cassone of Florida and David Cassone of north Carolina and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 23, 2017 from 5pm to 7pm at the First Baptist Church of Decatur. The service will follow with Pastor Jamey Davis and Paul (Yogi) White officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Athens Humane society (www.athenshumanesociety.org) in memory of James Cassone for his love of animals.
