James Allen Brown, Sr.

James Allen Brown, Sr., 80, of Athens, went to be with the Lord peacefully Sunday, August 12, 2013, at his home. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving in the Korean War. He belonged to the Masonic Lodge 733, Riceville, TN and Eastern Star. He loved to drive race cars. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dillard and Marie Brown; sister Linda Looper. He is survived by his wife of nearly 20 years, Joann (Buckner) Brown of Athens, TN; one son, Jimmy Brown, Jr. of Dickson, TN; one step son Terry Moses of Coker Creek, TN; one daughter Cindy Bivens of Athens, TN; four step daughters, Sandy and Charlie Fritts of Athens, Brenda and Todd Corbett of Tellico, TN, Linda and Glen Harris of Athens, Christine and Gordon Fritts of Madisonville; one brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Sandra Brown of Chattanooga, TN; one sister and brother-in-law, Jane and Jim Bowers of Decatur, TN; 2 grandchildren, 17 step grandchildren, 8 step great grandchildren, and 2 step great-great grandchildren. Funeral service will be at 8 p.m., Thursday, August 15, 2013 at the Calhoun First Baptist Church with Pastor Kevin Cheatam officiating. Burial will be in the Chattanooga National Cemetery, Chattanooga, TN on Monday, August 19, 2013 at 10 a.m., Visitation will be from 6 - 8 p.m., Thursday, August 15, 2013 at the church..
