Jack Glen Rayl

Aug 26, 1954 — Aug 13, 2026

Jackie Glen "Jack" Rayl, 71, passed away on August 12, 2026. He was born on August 26, 1954, to Allen Earl and Effie Jane Rayl.

Jack leaves behind his beloved wife of 36 years, Patricia Rayl; brother, David Rayl and wife, Bridgette; sister, Helen Brown and husband, Doug; sister, Evelyn Rayl; and brother, Paul Rayl and wife, Kim. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who will forever cherish their memories of Uncle Jack.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Allen Earl and Effie Jane Rayl, and brother, Raymond Allen Rayl.

Jack devoted much of his life to education, athletics, and the young people of Meigs County. He retired from the Meigs County Board of Education after serving as an assistant principal and spent many years as a teacher and football coach at Meigs High School, where he was known as Coach Rayl. Football was a passion, but his greatest impact came through the young people he taught, coached, encouraged, and mentored.

During his years at Meigs High, Jack was the keeper of what came to be known as "Rayl Jail," the school's in-school suspension room-a name and a memory that many former students and athletes will never forget.

Jack also had a lifelong passion for German Shepherds and was instrumental in the creation of Service Dogs of America, dedicating his time and talents to training and working with these remarkable dogs.

To his family, Jack was a husband, brother, Uncle Jack, mentor, and friend. He was one of a kind-a man who made memories, told stories, taught lessons, and left a lasting mark on the lives of so many.

His legacy will live on through the family he loved, the young people he influenced, the work he dedicated his life to, and the countless memories he leaves behind.

Rest easy, Jack. You will be deeply missed and forever remembered. 🏈

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
