J. Eddie Duckett

November 22, 1947 — March 27, 2022

J. Eddie Duckett, age 74, of Decatur, gained his wings on Sunday, March 27, 2022 at Tennova Healthcare, Cleveland. To know him was to love him. He was their hero and could do no wrong. His values and morals compass were near to sainthood. He adored his family and always put them first. He taught them with selflessness, positivity, and love that molded them into who they are today. He loved nothing more than being outdoors, from gardening, his animals, to building, hunting, and fishing, or just enjoying the nature around him. He was always quick with a joke to make you smile or a word of encouragement that was just what you needed. He will be greatly missed. Eddie was a highly decorated veteran who served his country with the 1st Calvary Division Airmobile. His awards included The Prestigious Bronze Star Medal, Air Medal, Sharpshooters 1st Class Gunner, Vietnam Service Medal with 3 bronze Service Stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, and National Defense Service Medal. He is preceded in death by his parents: Junior and Rosie Duckett; sisters: Wanda and Bobbie. He is survived by his son: James Duckett; daughter: Tisha Little; brothers: Pete (Robin), Charles (Donna), and Jessie (Kim) Duckett; sisters: Frances Maroon, Martha Jane Meadows, Jo (Harvel) Henry, Annie Gladson; grandkids: Peyton Duckett, Holly and Macey Lillard, Victoria and Justice Gonzalez, Maddie Little; great grandchild: Bryson Lee; several nieces, nephews, and other extended family. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at 7 p.m. in the Chapel of Decatur Funeral Home & Cremation Services with the Rev. Mike Couch officiating. Interment will be held on Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at 11 a.m. in the Meigs Co. Memorial Gardens.
