Hubert Junior Haney

Hubert Junior Haney, 78, of Georgetown, TN, passed away Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga. He was a Vietnam Veteran serving in the US Marine Corp. During that time he served as a helicopter and airplane mechanic. In Jan. 1963 he participated in operation SHU-FLY @ SocTrang Air Base and DaNang SVN as a member of task element 79.3.5.1 and 79.3.3.6. He was awarded the Good Conduct Metal. Hubert follwed in his fathers footsteps as a Dairy Farmer. He was a member of Gum Springs Baptist Church of Georgetown. He loved fishing with his grandchildren, cooking for family and his church family, and gardening.

He was preceded in death by his parents Lester and Selva Whaley Haney and one infant son.

Survivors include his wife Diana S. Haney; one son Hubert J. (April) Haney II, of Cleveland; one Godson David Sanders, of Cleveland; two daughters Diannia G (Dennis) Melton, of Cleveland; Kimberly S. (Dave) Haney-Hardin, of Georgetown; one brother Gene (Linda) Haney and two sisters Juanita (Gary) Houston and Mary Jane (James) Pierce, all of Cleveland; four grandchildren Logan and Cooper Melton, Hubert Justin and Rachel Sue Hardin; several nieces and nephews; Special family David, Joy and Robyn Howard, of Alabama. Jerry, Audra, Seth and Sarah Bidwell, of Georgetown.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday May 4, 2019 at Gum Springs Baptist Church with bro. Ron Perry and Dr. Sean Hayden officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 - 11:00 AM before the service. Burial will follow with full military honors in the Tasso United Methodist Church Cemetery in Cleveland . Pallbearers will be Hubert Justin Hardin, Jerry Bidwell, Zach Wisti, Bob Tyree, Dean Trew and Jake Cross.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Children's Hospital at Erlanger, Erlanger Foundation Children's Oncology 975 East 3rd St. Chattanooga, TN 37403.
