Fanny Sue Jones, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and woman of strong Christian faith, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born on August 15, 1943, Fanny lived a life marked by kindness, devotion, and a deep love for others. She was known for her gentle spirit, her generous heart, and her unwavering faith in God. A true example of grace and warmth, Fanny touched everyone she met with her compassion and quiet strength.
She found great joy in life's simple pleasures-spending time with her family, knitting handmade gifts with love, watching hummingbirds from her window, and solving word search puzzles. Her home was always a welcoming place filled with love, prayer, and the comforting scent of fresh coffee or something cooking on the stove.
Fanny was a devoted wife to her husband, Herb Jones, and a loving mother to her son, Dewayne, who passed away in 1971, and two daughters, Candie and Sherry. She was also a proud and deeply cherished grandmother to Brittany, Tyler, Johnathan, Jordan, Alisha, Destiny, and Joe, and great grandmother to Mason, Sadie, Lucas, Samuel, Nolan, each of whom held a special place in her heart. She was also a devoted sister to several siblings.
Fanny's faith in Jesus Christ was the cornerstone of her life. She was a godly woman whose prayers lifted her family and whose life was a testimony to the love and peace she found in her Savior. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
A Funeral Service will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, in the Chapel of Decatur Funeral Home & Cremation Services with the Rev. Lawrence Waller officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 - 7 p.m., prior to the service.
Interment will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, in the Bales Cemetery. All who knew and loved Fanny are welcome to attend and honor her legacy.
