Ethel Layman

Ethel Jennings Layman, age 77, of Decatur, gained her wings on Thursday, October 17, 2024. Surrounded by her family, she entered her Heavenly home to be reunited with loved ones.

She was the daughter of the late Burl and Orzie Jennings.

She was preceded in death by husband: John Layman, Sr.; Brothers: Steve Jennings and Homer Jennings Sisters: Ida Mae Shelton and Martha Lillard.

She is survived by her daughters: Terrina (Keith) Sartin, Lorrina (Rodney) Hoover, Johnaca (Charlie) Dawson. Orzetta Layman; sister: Frances Carter, several loving grandchildren and great grandchildren, that were the joy of her life. Nieces, nephews, other extended family, and a host of friends.

Special Thank you to her care giver and family friend, Samantha Brock.

A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, October 22, 2024 in the Chapel of Decatur Funeral Home & Cremation Services with the Rev. Herman Jordan officiating. Interment will follow in the Meigs County Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 1 – 3 p.m., prior to the service.
