Elsie E. Stacy

Elsie E. Stacy of Decatur, Tennessee, formerly of Springfield, Illinois passed away Wednesday, February 26, 2025.

She was born January 30, 1937 near Greenfield, Illinois. She was one of nine children born to Ralph and Jennie (DeWitt) Arnold. Elsie graduated high school in 1955. She married Ivan R. Stacy of Springfield in 1957. They have two boys. She worked for Illinois State Police for many years and retired from there leaving many friends. Elsie was an avid gardener and a friend of all birds and wildlife. She loved football season and rooted for Kansas City. Elsie was generous and loving to everyone she knew and adopted. She will be missed by her many friends and family in her beloved Tennessee and Illinois.

She is preceded in death by her husband, parents; brothers, Ebert (Esther) Arnold and Harold Arnold; sisters Helen (Frank) Cimarossa, Dot (Edgar Ray) Overbey, and Irene (Bill) Burton.

Elsie is survived by her sons, Gragg (Chery) Stacy of Petersburg, Illinois, Bruce Stacy of Decatur, Tennessee; a brother, Dean Arnold of Florida; sisters Martha Manker of Jacksonville, Illinois, Fern (John) Jouett of Monument, Colorado; sister-in-law Esther Arnold of Wrights, Illinois. Three grandchildren, nine, great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 am – Noon on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, in the Chapel of Decatur Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Decatur, Tennessee.

A celebration of life in Springfield, Illinois will be held at a later date.
