Edwin Kay Jennings

Edwin Kay (Pete) Jennings, 59, passed away on Wednesday, December 4, 2013. A lifelong resident of Decatur, he was a graduate of Meigs County High School and attended Cleveland State Community College. He was employed in sales with L&M Motors in Athens, TN. He had a lifelong interest in politics, presently serving as County Commissioner 3rd District. He served as Meigs County Circuit Court Clerk, Purchase and Finance Commission and was a Meigs County Executive, and a member of the Lions Club. He was an avid NASCAR fan and loved boating on the TN river where he lived. He was of the Baptist faith. Preceded in death by his parents, Fred Kay and Dorthy Petitt Jennings; sister, Judith Ann Jennings Wilson; brother, Jerry Fred Jennings; one infant sister, Nancy Lee Jennings; nephew, Michael Kay Wilson; and his beloved pet, Spotty. Survived by his sister, Barbara Buchanan and husband Bill; sister-in-law, Dianne Jennings; brother-in-law, JB Wilson; nieces, Hope Anderson, Susan Deike, Shelley Moses, Shannon Gennoe, Paige Zabo; nephew, John Buchanan; great nieces and nephews, aunts, many cousins and wonderful friends. Visitation will be Friday December 6, 2013 from 4-8 pm with the Funeral at 8pm in the Chapel of Bowers Funeral Home with Rev. Hugh Bryan officiating. Interment will be Saturday December 7, 2013 at Mt. Olivet Cemetery at 11 am. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Meigs County Ministries 18364 State HWY 58 N, Decatur, TN 37322.
