Donna Gail Rice

Donna Gail Shelton Rice, 59, of Decatur died Wednesday, June 5, 2013. She was the daughter of the late Curtis "Neil" and Mildred Vincent Shelton. She was of Baptist faith. In her youth she was vibrant and enjoyed ballet and baton and worked as a dental assistant prior to a lengthy illness. She was also preceded in death by grandparents, Dallas Vincent, Edith Scott, Hubert and Effie Shelton; brother and sister-in-law Mike and Doris Shelton, niece April Curtis. Survivors include, Husband Ron Rice, uncles Ross Shelton, of Athens, Maynard (Ida Mae) Shelton, of Decatur; nephew Hunter Curtis, of Inglewood; cousins, Donna Nelson of Decatur, Tony Shelton, of Crossville, Sheila Shelton, of Cleveland, OH, Marion Shelton, of Fort Bragg, NC, Shy Newman Green, of Charleston, Pam Bache, of Dayton, Teresa Bright, Brenda Greene, Steve Shelton, Janet Lawson, Kevin Shelton, all of Athens; also relatives from the Vincent, Swafford, Bidwell, McHone and Norton families. Interment was in Pisgah Cemetery of Decatur. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Bowers Funeral Home to help with funeral expenses.
