Donald Taft Layman, Sr., of Decatur, born Oct. 25, 1931, died June 20, 2019. He was the son of Ted Layman and Bessie Marie McNabb Layman of McMinn and Meigs counties.

Don was preceded in death by his father and mother, his first wife, Pearl Wattenbarger Layman and brothers Harold, Johnny and Teddy.

His surviving family includes children Donald, Jr. (Teresa), Theodore (Lucy Anne), and Becky, his grandson David and great-grandchildren Samuel and Nora Layman; He is also survived by his wife Linda Sherman Layman, stepdaughter Molly Pritchett (Brian), step son Robb Cagle (Catie) and grandson Henry. Brothers Dan (Carolyn) and Ed (Tommie Kay) Layman and nieces and nephews and cousins.

Don worked for 31 years at Bowater in Calhoun and had many friends and co-workers there.

Don's life will be celebrated at Bowers Funeral Home in Decatur on Monday June 24 from 5-7 pm with a memorial service at 7 pm.
