Howard Crabtree

Howard Dewight "Moose" Crabtree, age 80, of Niota, passed away on Friday, January 16, 2026

He was a son of the late Joe and Nancy Crabtree and a member of Pisgah Baptist Church. He was a member of Thomas A. Hamilton Lodge #317 F.& A.M. in Riceville for over 39 years. He enjoyed growing produce, selling honey, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his son, Robert Joe Crabtree; siblings, Hershal Crabtree, Wanda Hayes, Vonda Newman, Hack Crabtree, Sue Nelson, Joby Crabtree, Juanita Rogers.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Connie Tilley Crabtree; daughter, Kim Crabtree; grandchildren, Carrie Fairbanks, Jesse Fairbanks; great-grandchildren, Hazel Byers, Madison Fairbanks; several nieces, nephews, and other extended family.

A Masonic Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, January 21, 2026 in the chapel of Decatur Funeral Home & Cremation Services, with a funeral service to follow with the Rev. Martin Bowlin. Interment will follow in the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 12 noon - 2 p.m., prior to the service.
