Delphine “Pheeny” Crabtree Brown, age 84 of Decatur passed away peacefully surrounded by her family Saturday, November 4, 2023 at Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga. She was born August 11, 1939 to parents Ed and Cora Underwood Crabtree. She attended Walnut Grove School. She was employed in textile work for many years. Pheeny was a member of Union Grove Baptist church in Decatur. She was a beloved mother with great joy and wittiness. If you ever traveled past her home you were guaranteed to find her sitting in her rocker enjoying porch time during the summer. She loved when family and friends came to visit, and always made sure no one left hungry. She loved her family fiercely and was proud of her every single one…They were her life. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband: Roy Lee Kenneth Brown; Daughter: Aletha White; Sisters: Eva Plemons, Cledith Wilson, Pauline Carnival, Geraldine Anderson; Brother: Bud Crabtree; Great Grandchildren: Allie and Chase Scott. She is survived by her children: Terry (Donna) Brown, Michele (Mike) McKenzie; Son-in-law: Jerry White, all of Decatur. Grandchildren: Sonya (Rodney) Scott, Brian (Nichole) White, Nathan (Monique) Brown, Bryce and Tanner McKenzie, all of Decatur, and Autumn (Heath) Bridges of Adairsville, GA. Great Grandchildren: Savannah Scott, Shelby and Ty White, Annie Kay and Elin Bridges, Rawling and Rhett Brown; Sister: Joyce (Jewell) Allen of Decatur, Sister-in-Law: Louise McKinney of Athens, Bertha (John) Thompson of Chattanooga, and Brother-In-Law: Junior (June) Brown of Decatur. Along with many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, November 10, 2023 in the Chapel of Decatur Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Brothers Dusty Caldwell and Jimmy Lewis officiating. Interment will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday November 11, 2023 in Short Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 - 7p.m., prior to the service. Pallbearers will be Brian White, Nathan Brown, Bryce McKenzie, Tanner McKenzie, Rodney Scott, and Heath Bridges, along with nephews being honorary pallbearers.
