David Monroe

David Monroe, age 83, of Decatur, passed away Saturday, June 25, 2022. He was a member of Walnut Grove Baptist Church. He was an avid farmer, he also enjoyed spending time with kids, grandkids, and great grandkids. He is preceded in death by his parents: Lankford and Cindy Monroe, Sr, brothers: Jr. Monroe, Jim Monroe. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years: Joyce Monroe of Decatur, children: Kevin Monroe of Decatur, Brenda Scheider (Steve) of Dallas, GA, Kent Monroe (Myra) of Athens, TN, grandchildren: Anndrea Melton (Daniel) of Douglasville, GA, Joseph Ours (Kayla), 4 great grandchildren, special caretaker: Donna Ray and her husband Rodney, special friends: Bo Henry, John Henry, sister-in-law: Wanda Monroe, several nieces, nephews, and other extended family. A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 30, 2022 at Walnut Grove Baptist Church with Rev. John Rogers officiating. Family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m., prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to Walnut Grove Baptist Church. Decatur Funeral Home & Cremation Services is honored to serve the Monroe family.
