Darvin Spears

Darvin Spears, age 81, of Decatur, formally of Van Lear, Ky, passed away on Saturday, September 10, 2022 at his home, surrounded by his family. He was a member of East Point Lodge #657 Free and Accepted Masons. He was also a Shriner, and 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason. He was a shoe cobbler and heavy equipment operator. He was an avid fisherman and attended Bethel Spring Baptist Church. Darvin was a son of the late Enoch and Opal Collins Spears. He is survived by wife of 61 years: Bonnie Spears, daughter: Janet (Tim) McCarty, son: Darvin Lee Spears, nieces: Alta May (Ken) Crawford, Joy Deane Stephens, Lucy Potter, 5 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, September 15, 2022 at 7 p.m. In the Chapel of Decatur Funeral Home & Cremation Services with the Rev. Gene Guffey officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 prior to the service. In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial donations be made directly to the Spears family.
