Danny Reece Wattenbarger, age 79, of Decatur, passed away on Thursday, November 13, 2025.
Danny was a dedicated dairy farmer. He was a devout follower of the Baptist faith and instilled the values of hard work and integrity in all aspects of his life.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 35 years and 1 day, Emma Mason Wattenbarger, who left a lasting impact on his heart.
Danny is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, James Reece and Patty Wattenbarger, and his other son, Jonathan Wattenbarger. He took great joy in his grandchildren and their spouses, Kristen and James Loy, Tesha and Aaron Slone, and Jami Wattenbarger, as well as his great-grandchildren: Arianna, Owen, Jonah, Audrey, Oliver, and Renley. He also leaves behind his brother, Stacy Wattenbarger, and sister and brother-in-law, Poppy and Jimmy Stiner, his loyal four-legged companion, Homeless, and several nieces, nephews, and a host of extended family members.
A Funeral Service will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, November 17, 2025, in the chapel of Decatur Funeral Home & Cremation Services with the Rev. Nevil Smith officiating.
Interment will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, in the Buttrams Cemetery in Athens.
The family will receive friends from 5 - 7 p.m., prior to the service on Monday.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Hospice of Chattanooga and Nurse Carlee for their exceptional care of Danny.
