Dannie Earl Rogers, age 70, of Decatur, went home to be with our Lord on Wednesday, May 29, 2024. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, leaving behind a legacy of love and memories.
Dannie was born to the late Alton and Edith Farrell Rogers. He was a faithful member of Decatur First Baptist Church and found great joy in his Sunday School class. Additionally, he was a proud member of Meigs Lodge #213 F.&A.M.
Dannie found solace and joy in his work on the farm and tending to his cows. He was known for his selflessness, always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. Dannie had a love for sports and cherished the many years playing softball with friends. Dannie's infectious sense of humor and penchant for pranks brought laughter to all who knew him. His unwavering faith sustained him, particularly as his physical health declined.
He is survived by his high school sweetheart and loving wife of nearly 50 years, Tanya Rogers; his children: Dannie (Jennifer McHone) Rogers, Jr. and Thea (Christopher) Swafford; his brothers: James Lee (Mary Ruth) Rogers and John Calfee (Becky) Rogers; his grandchildren: Natalie (Sean) Cram, LilyAnna and Emelia Swafford, and Lexus McHone; his great-grandchildren: Levi and LJ; as well as several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
A Masonic service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 1, 2024, in the chapel of Decatur Funeral Home & Cremation Services, followed by a memorial service officiated by Pastor Brett Boyd and the Rev. Kevin Harris.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Decatur First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 35, Decatur, TN 37322.
