Dan Layman

Dan Layman Jr., 50 of Decatur, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday morning July 29, 2013. Danny, as he was known to his family and friends, was an avid sports fan and loyal supporter of the Tennessee Volunteers and Meigs County Tigers/Lady Tigers. He enjoyed the outdoors and had fond memories of turkey hunting with his father and grandfather. He was very artistic and loved to design, sketch and write. Danny was friendly to everyone and never met a stranger. Most importantly, he loved the Lord and was thankful for each and every blessing. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Eugene and Dorothy Denton, Ted and Bessie Layman and great grand parents Frank and Clemmie Rhan. He is survived by his two sons Derrick (Jessica) Layman of Decatur and Darren (Laura) Layman of Cleveland, parents Dan and Carolyn Layman of Decatur, brother Jason (Tabitha) Layman of Decatur, two sisters Regina (Jason) Kirk of Decatur and Melissa (Mark) Wilson of Georgetown, one grandson Gabriel Layman, several nieces and nephews and special friends at Ingles. Pallbearers include Jason Layman, Jason Kirk, Mark Wilson, Russ Arthur, Sammy Fairbanks and Dent Capehart. Jerry McHone is an honorary pallbearer. The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 31st from 6-8 pm. The funeral service will be on Thursday, August 1st at 11 am with Rev. Doug Brown officiating. Interment following at Decatur Cemetery.
