Clarence W Moore

Clarence W. Moore, 84, departed this life on June 14, 2017 at home. He was a lifelong resident of Meigs County, known to many as CW and Brother Moore.

Clarence was the youngest child born to the late Ewing and Viola Locke Moore in the Peakland Community. He attended Hickory Flatt Elementary and later graduated from Campbell High School in Rockwood, TN. He served in the U.S Army for 2 years (1955-1957), and he worked as a mechanic at various car dealerships. He also worked at TVA as a heavy equipment mechanic. He worked at Union Carbide for 2 years; State Highway Department for several years; and was a school bus driver for the Meigs County School System. Over the years he did dozer and backhoe work. Many would come to Brother Moore when they needed their vehicle fixed.

He was a devoted member and deacon at Hickory Flatt Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents Ewing and Viola Locke Moore; his wife Mary Ruth G. Moore; 2 sisters, Reba Nell Brewster and Virginia Jo Anderson; and great grandson Jameer Moore.

His survivors include: son Jeffery "Hoss" (Denise) Moore of Decatur, TN. 3 grandsons, DeWayne (Latoya) Moore of Athens, TN.; Reginald Moore of Nashville, TN.; Tyler Moore (Fiance Shaneika Sharp) of Decatur, TN. 3 great grandchildren: Jacori and Jahmad Moore of Athens, TN., and Aniyah Sharp of Dayton, TN.

2 sisters-in-law: Shirley (James) Oggs of Spring City, TN; Eunice Rankin of Columbus, Ohio.; 4 brothers-in-law: Booker T. (Carolyn) Gillespie of Nashville, TN.; Alvas Gillespie of Abilene, TX.; Curtis L. Gillespie of Dallas, TX.; William (Kimberly) Gillespie of Spring City, TN., and 5 devoted nieces, a devoted nephew and 2 devoted cousins. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral service will be Sunday, June 18, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Hickory Flatt Baptist Church with Pastor Leroy Bowerman officiating. Interment will follow in the Hickory Flatt Cemetery.

The family will receive friends form 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 18, 2017 at Hickory Flatt Baptist Church.
