Charles Clarence Finney, Sr., 95, passed away on December 17, 2012, at Lifecare Center of Athens, Tennessee. He was born and raised in Rhea County, Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his parents George David and Mary Ellen Kelley Finney; his first wife, Ama Rinehart Finney and second wife, Mildred Legg Finney; sisters, Ethel Priest, Dixie Perkins, Hattie Kate Finney (infant) and brothers, John Edward and Hubert Randolph Finney. He attended First Baptist Church of Decatur and Calvary Red Bank Baptist Church. He was a member and past master of Meigs Masonic lodge #213 F&AM. He was retired from Volunteer Energy Cooperative after 42 years service where he worked as a lineman and foreman. He will also be remembered for his love of music. He loved playing the banjo and later his harmonica. He sang with the Decatur Quartet for many, many years. He is survived by sister, Luthera Elder; son, Charles C. Finney, Jr., and wife Shelby of Cleveland; daughter, Brenda L. McHone and husband Graling; grandsons and their families, Todd and Casey, and great grandsons, Johnathan Trig, Andy and Misty; great granddaughter, Taylor Renee, all of Decatur. Funeral services will be held Wed. Dec. 19 at 7 pm in the Bowers Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Max Redman officiating. The family will receive friends from 5-7pm Wed. Interment will be in the Decatur Cemetery Thursday at 11am.
