Charles Alvin Childs II, (Cacy to his family, and Chip to his clown family), age 35, of Decatur passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 22, 2023, at Park West Medical Center in Knoxville, TN. He was born on June 29, 1987, in Chattanooga, TN, and graduated from Meigs County High School in 2005. Alvin was a member of Walnut Grove Baptist Church in Decatur. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved watching movies and playing video games in his free time. Alvin was known for his warm smile, kind heart, and sense of humor. Alvin was immensely proud of his children. His passing leaves a deep void in the lives of all those who knew and loved him. He will be dearly missed. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather: Jimmy Letner, paternal grandparents: Hobert Charles Childs and Elma Jane Varnell Childs. Alvin is survived by his two children: Drake and Aaliyah Childs, grandmother: Linda Letner, parents: Alvin and Terry Childs, sister: Shaundra Mazza (Zachary), nephews: Jaxon Wright, Jayden Mazza, Cameron Mazza, Conner Mazza, niece: Alacee Mazza, aunts and uncles: Carla and Tom Davis, Tina and Bob Thomas, Steve Letner, Bobby and Rose Letner, great aunts and uncles: Ben and Ivadell Varnell, Shirley and Wally Cunningham, Gracie and Danny Housley, special cousins: Adam Roberts, Tyler Letner, Brittany Letner, Catrina Letner, Nathan Stiles, Alex Scheierman, Katina Brickle, and many other cousins, extended family, and friends. There will be a memorial service at Walnut Grove Baptist Church on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at 5:00 p.m. with the Rev. Josh Cornelius officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 5:00 prior to the service. Decatur Funeral Home & Cremation Services is honored to serve the Childs Family.
