Carl Edward Sands, Sr.

Carl Edward Sands, Sr., 61, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, December 25, 2012 at 2:50 p.m. From Knoxville, but was a resident of Decatur for 15 years. He was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church, Knoxville, TN. He was a U. S. Army Veteran, SSGT. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Cornelia Sands; brother David Sands; sister Carol Jean Collier. He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Delores (Morgan) Sands of Decatur; three sons and daughter-in-laws, Tommy and Cindy Sands of Athens, Carl and Candy Lynn Sands of Nashville, Brian and Jody Sands of Decatur; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Leo Anderson of Knoxville, Donald Ray and Tammy Sands of Knoxville; two sisters and brother-in-laws, Kathy and Lonnie Coppock and Dorothy and John Stabler all of Madisonville; 13 beautiful Grandchildren; and many friends. A Memorial Service will be held Sat. Dec. 29 at 2 pm at Faith Baptist Church, Hwy 58 in Decatur, conducted by his eldest son Tommy Sands. The family asks that in lieu of flowers a donation for the family can be made at the service.
