Billy Ray Whittenburg, 81, of Decatur, TN., passed away on Sunday, April 18, 2021 at Parkwest Medical Center, Knoxville, TN. He enjoyed playing country music on the guitar and collector and restore classic cars. He also was an avid drag racer. He is preceded in death by his father: Glen Whittenburg, mother: Lorene Hendrix, brothers; Winfred Hendrix, Danny Hendrix, sister: Frances Whittenburg, son: Denver “Little Bill” Whittenburg He is survived by his wife of 54 years: Jearldean Whittenburg, of Decatur, TN, children: Gail Colley (Bobby) of Ferndale, MI, Ronnie Hendrix of Philadelphia, TN, Debbie Hendrix of Philadelphia, TN, Billy Hendrix of Loudon, TN, Gelinia Lovingood (Tracey) of Decatur, TN, Glen Whittenburg of Decatur, TN, brother: Verlin Whittenburg of Granite City, IL, sisters: Sue Vincil of Lenior City, TN, Betty McCaulley of Madisonville, TN, 6 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and other extended family. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, April 22, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Decatur Funeral Home & Cremation Services with the Rev. Gary Rolen officiating. Interment will follow at Clear Springs Cemetery. The Family will receive friends from 10 to 11 prior to the service.
