Betty Jo Gooch

Betty Jo Gooch, 79, of Decatur passed away Sunday, October 28, 2018 at her residence. She was born in Parsons, TN and had been a resident of Decatur since 1987 coming from Dayton. She loved to listen to Elvis and was a Baptist by faith.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Cordie Lee Ivy; her husband, John Carnell; her brothers, James Edward Ivy, Lafat Junior Barnickle, Samuel O'Dean Barnickle, and Alaxander Carmack Barnickle; her sisters, Nanny Geneva Turner, Lillian Blanch Tillman and Johnni Sue Hendrix; a daughter, Mellisa Bradfield; and two sons, Jeffery Carnell Gooch and Brandon Chance Gooch.

Survivors include her sons, Jonathan Gooch (Audrey) of Darden and Tracy Gooch; her daughters, Cheryel Middleton (Danny) of Lexington, TN and Meshelle Nelson (Ray Ratledge) of Athens; a sister, Linda Faye Meyers of Kentucky; grandchildren, Lashawna Bradfield, Crystal Ogen, Adam Funderburk, Tristan Bradfield, April Nelson, Michael Nelson, Brandon Nelson, Brandi Gibson, Brittany Gooch, Darrell Middleton, Jasmine Nelson, Ethan Gooch, Dakota Gooch, Skyler Gooch, Eric Gooch, and Dannie Gooch; 26 great-grandchildren, and three special friends, Melissa and Mark Greeno and Stella Meadows.

A memorial service will be held at Bowers Funeral Home, Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at 6pm with Rev. Max Redman officiating. There will be no calling hours.
