Betty Louise Benson

Betty Louise Benson, Age 81, of Decatur, TN, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at Parkwest Hospital in Knoxville.

She was born on October 8, 1935 in Big Springs, TN to the late John Fred and Anna Ruth Ledford and was a member of Bethsadia Baptist Church in Decatur. She retired from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga with 29 years of service.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Jimmy Paul Benson on November 18, 2016 and a brother Charles Ledford.

She is survived by her daughters; Sheila Benson Bishop and her husband Marvin, and Sharon Benson all of Decatur; three granddaughters, Katie (Curtis) Elder, Jennifer (Ben) Axley, and Olivia Benson; four great-grandchildren, Matthew, Hannah, and Sarah Elder, and Abigail Axley; brother, Jim Ledford and his wife Kay, Sisters-in-law; Margie Ledford, and Wanda Benson Manion, eight nieces, eleven nephews, and many great nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, December 16, 2016 in the chapel of Bowers Funeral home with the Rev. Larry Sorah and the Rev. Jamey Davis officiating. Interment will follow in the Bethsadia Baptist Church Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 1;00 till 3:00 pm, Friday, December 16, 2016 at the funeral home.
