Barbara Lewis Reed

Barbara Lewis Reed, age 71, of Decatur, passed away on Monday, April 24, 2023 at home, surrounded by her family and friends.

She was the daughter of the late Robert S. “Bob” and Melba Green Lewis. Barbara was the happiest being a wife to Larry and a Gran to her grandchildren. She hugely supported her grandchildren in all their endeavors. She not only had a love for watching sports, she also was a talented athlete herself. Her girls were raised in a gym and on the softball field. She had a love for traveling and spending time with her friends and “girlfriends.” She was an active member of Decatur First Baptist Church and enjoyed the company of her church family.

She was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband of 53 years: Larry Reed, sister: June Lewis Kite.

She is survived by her children: Jamie Bredwell (Micheal), Wendi Powell (Jason), grandchildren: Morgan Jarvis (Cory), Taylor and Macie Boggess, Jaci and Nate Powell, a host of cousins, extended family, and friends.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 27, 2023, at 7 p.m. in the Chapel of Decatur Funeral Home & Cremation Services with the Rev. Jordan Metzger officiating.

Interment will be held on Friday, April 28, 2023, at 11 a.m. in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m., prior to the service on Thursday.
