Barbara Jean Howard

Barbara Jean Howard, Age 65, of Decatur, TN, went home to be with the Lord
on Saturday, December 31, 2016 at Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga.

She was born on April 15, 1951, to the late Weaver Franklin "Runt" McKenzie and Martha Armina Anderson McKenzie. She attended Short Creek Baptist Church. She was employed by Shaw Industries of Decatur for almost 34 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband , Lester "Buck" Howard and Sister Teresa Childs.

She is survived by her sons; Jessie and Michelle Howard of Athens, TN and Doug and Jill Howard of Athens, TN. Brother; Charles "Chuck" and Carol McKenzie of Rockwood,TN. Sister; Patsy and Edgar Childs of Georgetown, TN. She has 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and other extended family.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, January 5, 2017 in the chapel of Bowers Funeral home with the Rev. David Evans officiating. Interment will follow in the Short Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers; Coy Howard, Cory Howard, Josh Howard, Brandon Howard, Adam Childs, Michael Childs. Honorary Pallbearber; Daniel Beavers and Keith McKenzie.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 till 8:00 pm, Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at Bowers Funeral Home.
